How to write a good funding application update
Write consistent, clear, numbers-driven updates for Not Yet Ventures. Builders and companies.
We believe behavior over applications. The strongest signal, and the habit that makes better founders, is a consistent, clear, numbers-driven update. After you introduce yourself on /pitch, we email you a private address. Send updates there from the same email you used when you introduced yourself.
Cadence
About once a month is the bar we notice. Missing a month cools priority; it does not delete your channel. Consistency beats perfection.
What good looks like
Short. Prefer one screen over a novel.
Clear and direct. Say what happened, what you learned, what is next.
Numbers when you have them. Users, revenue, runway, experiments run.
Honest. Bad news early is useful. Spin is not.
One ask at most, if you have one. Optional.
If you have a company
Write like a stakeholder update: progress since last time, key metrics, risks, and what you are focused on next. Example shape:
Subject: Acme - June update
Since last month: shipped billing v2; 12 paying teams (was 7).
MRR $4.2k. Runway ~9 months.
Learning: enterprise sales cycle is longer than we hoped; tightening ICP.
Next: close 3 design partners; hire first AE.
Ask: intros to Series A fintech operators who sold into mid-market banks. If you are a builder (no company yet)
Same muscle, different content. Progress, curiosity, what you shipped or explored. Example shape:
Subject: Builder update - June
This month: talked to 18 campus founders about scheduling pain; built a
weekend prototype that books study rooms via SMS.
Learning: students will not install another app; SMS retention was 40% week 1.
Next: 10 more interviews; decide whether to keep building or kill.

Email your private address (the one we sent you). Use the same From address you registered on /pitch. Do not forward from a different mailbox unless that address is also on your profile with us.
This is not a fast lane to a meeting. Updates are how we stay close while generative time stays scarce.
